My research is on mathematical physics, broadly speaking, with a focus on quantum field theory and string theory, and their connections to modern geometry and topology.

Quantum theory and non-perturbative effects

In 2017, the 7th Itzykson seminar at IHES was devoted to the topic "Resurgence and quantization". I was asked to give a survey talk on the subject. You can find the write-up of the talk here. The video recording can be watched here.
Mathematics and string theory

Some time ago, Claudio Bartocci asked me to write a chapter for the Einaudi encyclopedia of mathematics on the relation between string theory and mathematics. The text was translated into Italian by Ugo Bruzzo. Although it is slightly outdated, it seems to be still useful. You can download it here.
Stringy geometry and emergent space
